Las escuelas libres en el mundo daban ejemplo de que era posible su existencia al margen de las creencias religiosas, dedicadas a su fin exclusivo que lo es la enseñanza y la difusión de los conocimientos.
La Escuela Libre de Derecho es la segunda institución más antigua que imparte la carrera de Derecho en la ciudad de México, después de la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, fundada ésta a mediados del siglo XVI.
La otra parte del binomio, lo son los profesores, que la Escuela busca entre los mejores y más capaces abogados mexicanos, los que reúnen conocimientos teóricos y experiencia práctica y a los que la sociedad ha concedido reconocimiento por su prestigio, trayectoria, sabiduría y desinteresada colaboración a la difusión del la ciencia del derecho.
