	Benguet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Benguet is a landlocked province of the Philippines in the Cordillera Administrative Region in Luzon.
		Its capital is La Trinidad and borders, clockwise from the south, Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Nueva Vizcaya.
		Benguet became one of the provinces of the Ilocos Region.

	San Roque Dam Project
		LA TRINIDAD, Benguet - Contrary to earlier opinions that Proclamation No.268 declaring the Ambuklao and Binga Forest and Watershed Reservation asprotected area limits the rights of the occupants, the DENR holds that land tenurial rights of indigenous communities are respected under the said proclamation.
		In the Benguet side, indigenous peoples peoples communities here expressed fear that the government will again displace them like their families and relatives in the old Ambuklao and Binga villages who still have to collect compensation after some already 47 years since the dams there were built.
		It is going to displace several hundred Benguet folks, possibly flood 1.5 million hectares in 27 towns in Central Luzon when it overflows or when it breaks, and poses an economic burden on the Filipino people who have to pay for all the foreign debts the government took out to construct the dam.

	Benguet Province

		Benguet, the southernmost province in the Cordillera Autonomous Region, has a population of 572,000 by the 2000 census, and contains the region's only city, Baguio, which, with a quarter million inhabitants, is more populous than any of the region's other five provinces (but the capital is the town of La Trinidad).

		BULK of the waste that causes the siltation of the Balili River in La Trinidad, Benguet, which is one of the reasons why the valley experiences flooding, are garbage that are released by Baguio residents.
		This was according to La Trinidad Mayor Nestor Fongwan who said that flooding in the municipality could not be controlled due to the unabated release of garbage in the said river by residents upstream every time it rains.

		LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — Officials here have blamed the excessive use of pesticides for the spread of spider mites in at least 50 hectares of strawberry farms in this town.
