		I also once got LaCie to let me open the case for a similar problem to yours and it was a stupidly designed multipin connection that had come loose.
		Lacie replaced FW bridges on a few of my down drives, but wiped the drives before returning them (or just sent me new drives all together).
		My 500GB LaCie has broken four times, and LaCie has replaced it each time (the 4th time it was out-of-warranty but I asked nicely and they made an exception).
