| | Lab Notebook |
 | | (In addition you will need a second notebook, which does not have to be permanently bound, for recording class notes.) The laboratory notebook is intended to be an up-to-date record of experimental procedures and observations. |
 | | A convenient way to prepare experimental procedures beforehand that allows accommodation of information accumulated during the lab is to divide the lab book page in half. |
 | | The procedure may be written (in a abridged format) on the left hand side of the page before lab, and in-lab data (weights, observation, deviations from the written procedure, mistakes, etc.) may be recorded of the right hand side of the page during lab. |
