  Rudolf Laban
Laban was a dancer, a choreographer and a dance / movement theoretician.
Laban was the first person to develop community dance and he has set out to reform the role of dance education, emphasising his belief that dance should be made available to everyone.
Rudolf Laban was in poor health most of his life suffering from what we would now call spasmodic manic depression, which appeared during and after excessive creative endeavour and after what he perceived as rejection of his ideas.

Laban (Bible) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Laban first appears in the story in Genesis 24:29-60, where he is impressed by the gold jewelry given to his sister on behalf of Isaac, and plays a key part in arranging their marriage.
Laban can be seen as symbolizing those whose concern for the welfare of their immediate family, nominally a virtue, is taken to the point where it interferes with God's Will.
Laban is referenced significantly in the Passover Haggadah, in the context of the answer to the traditional child's question, "Why is this night different from all other nights?".

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Laban
Laban's home was in Haran (xxvii, 43; xxix, 4), the city of Nachor (xxiv, 10), in Mesopotamia of Syria (xxviii, 2, 5) where Nachor, his grandfather, remained when Abraham and Lot migrated to Chanaan (xi, 31; xii, 4).
Laban and his sons then began to despise Jacob, who, noticing their change of attitude towards him, and dissatisfied with the treatment accorded him by his uncle, who had changed his wages ten times, secretly departed together with his wives and possessions (xxxi, 1-20).
Laban and Jacob then enter into an agreement whereby Jacob is not to harm Laban's daughters, and neither party is to pass with hostile intent the limits set by a heap of stones called "the witness heap".

 Laban - Biographies In Brief
Thus Laban was Abraham's great-nephew, Isaac's cousin and brother-in-law, and Jacob's uncle and father-in-law.
Laban lived in the city of Charan in Mesopotamia (Aram Naharaiim, the area between the Euphrates and the Tigris rivers in modern-day Iraq/Syria/Turkey), where Abraham's father and brother and their families settled after accompanying him on the first leg of his journey from Ur Casdim to the Holy Land.
Laban tries to prevent that return at all costs, or, at the very least, to compel Leah, Rachel and their children to remain with him in Charan; when Jacob and his family flee Laban's home, he and his sons chase after them to force their return.

UJC - Pharaoh and Laban: A Pesach Reflection
One of the most puzzling passages of the Haggadah is found in the transition from the introductory section of the Maggid to the section that is the heart of the Pesach story.
While Laban never carried out (and probably never would have carried out) his implicit threat against Jacob, there was one evil intention that he did carry out.
Jacob's service to Laban during that additional seven year period --- the Torah's first example of involuntary servitude -- is a foreshadowing of the later slavery in Egypt, so there is an inherent connection there between Laban's actions and the Pesach story that we're supposed to be telling.

Laban (Herzog and de Meuron, in collaboration with visual artist Michael Craig-Martin) is one of the largest purpose-built contemporary dance centres in the world.
A miracle of architecture in in a run-down part of South-East London, it is an exhilarating place to visit, as beautiful in the styling and finish of its internal spaces as its alluring and inviting exterior suggests.
There was an extra dimension, because the first of two sold-out evenings had Laban packed with irrepressible young schoolgirls, who screeched around the building like a flock of roosting starlings and whose teachers could do little to restrain them.
