Labatt survived by producing full strength beer for export south of the border and by introducing two "temperance ales" with less than two per cent alcohol for sale in Ontario.
In 1951 Labatt launched its Pilsener Lager; when it was introduced in Manitoba, the beer was nicknamed "Blue" for the colour of its label and the company's support of Winnipeg's Canadian Football League (CFL) franchise, the Blue Bombers.
Labatt has sponsored the construction of many buildings in London, including Labatt Park, the John Labatt Centre, the John Labatt Visual Arts Centre at the University of Western Ontario, and the Elizabeth A. "Bessie" Labatt Hall at UWO's King's University College campus.

 Labatt Park - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
During World War II Labatt Park was the home of the London Majors, which won the North American Sandlot Congress championship in 1948, as well as the Canadian, Ontario and Intercounty titles.
Along with bicycle racing, Labatt Park has in the past been used for soccer, fastball, softball, football, track and field, winter skating, political rallies, horsejumping, civic receptions, the RCMP Musical Ride and a 21-gun salute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to London on June 26, 1997.
Labatt Park was designated the oldest continually operating baseball grounds under the Ontario Heritage Act in 1994, after an effort spearheaded by a volunteer, non-profit organization, The Friends of Labatt Park.

Tecumseh Park was damaged by a flood in 1883, and in the 1880s and 1890s the park was used for bicycle races.
During World War II Labatt Park was the home of the London Majors, who won the National Baseball Congress North American championship in 1948.
In honour of this heritage, the park was supposed to be used in the filming of the 1992 movie A League of Their Own, but filming could not fit around the baseball schedule.

Labatt Memorial Park near the Forks of the Thames River in London, Ontario, Canada, is indeed the World's oldest ballpark in its original location (since the mid 1870s).
The park was designated as such under the Ontario Heritage Act in 1994, with the "Reasons for Designation" amended in 1996 to recognize, include and protect "The Roy McKay Clubhouse" at Labatt Park, home to the Intercounty League's London Majors Baseball Club.
Labbat Park is beleived to be the oldest continuously used park in the World and it is also one of the most beautiful.

The simple fact is that the frustrated baseball fans of Montreal won't even think about digging into their pockets for season tickets or seat licenses unless they know the team is staying in Montreal and they know a new ball park is under construction.
Labatt Park is the single best marketing tool in the hands of the Loria group; not to begin construction this winter would be fatal.
Once construction begins on Labatt Park, the Habs will have the Expos breathing down their necks from a short block away - with a better team, a genuine superstar and one of the best managers in the game.

Working with pictures historian Stephen Harding of the Weldon Library and the Friends of Labatt Park group, the event would have been a gathering of old ball players and fans who have frequented the historic ball yard for the last seven decades.
Harding would have assembled a display of pictures citing the teams from the first days of the field, when it was known as Tecumseh Park in the 1800s, to present day.

Bastarache has submitted the first claim that a field is the oldest in continuous use to the Guinness World Records, and he plans to lobby the National Park Service to name the field a historic landmark.
Fuller Field's main competition appears to be Labatt Park in London, Ontario, which bills the 1877 ballpark as the world's oldest diamond in continuous use, an assertion most baseball historians had generally supported.
The park would need ''compelling evidence" and outside corroboration before it would consider dropping its claim, he said, adding that park and tourism officials in Ontario have always been careful to add that Labatt Park is ''believed to be" the world's oldest diamond still in use.
