Labourd extends from the Pyrenees to the river Adour, along the Atlantic coast.
The main town of Labourd is Bayonne, although the capital, where local Basque leaders assembled, is Ustaritz, 13 km away.

The house of Edmond Rostand (French dramatist and poet (1868-1918)), Villa Arnaga at Cambo-les-Bains, is such a house and is now a museum dedicated to the author of Cyrano de Bergerac (additional info and facts about Cyrano de Bergerac) and to Basque traditions.

Labourd, Basse Navarre, and Zuberoa do not comprise an official Basque administrative division but are included in one of the ninety-nine departments into which France has been divided since the Revolution in 1789.
Labourd's coat of arms is divided in two.
It was used for the first time by King Hugo Capeto (987-993) and commemorates the annexation of Labourd into France in 1451 by the Treaty of Ayherre.
