The one album that seems to change their reputation or career. For ageless rocker Alice Cooper that one album was 1977's "Lace and Whiskey."
Lace and Whiskey(6)-normally title tracks are among the strong point of an album, but such is not the case on "Lace and Whiskey." The song is autobiographical in some regards and deals with Alice's fascination with whiskey.
"Lace and Whiskey" is probably Alice's worst album.
On the other hand the two songs that deal with his alcohol problems "Lace And Whisky" and especially the excellent "I Never Wrote Those Songs" are both strong with heartfelt poignant lyrics.
"Lace And Whisky" is not an essential Alice Cooperalbum and is usually regarded as one of his lesser releases by fans.
During Alice's period of heavy addiction of drinking, partying and watching tv came "Lace And Whiskey".
The now-deleted 1977albumLace and Whiskey was a by-the-numbers pop-rock album designed to generate big bucks.
The album's generic mainstream sound is varied only by the disco-era pomposity of "(No More) Love At Your Convenience" and the icky elevator muzak of "You And Me" (a Top 10 single in its day) and "I Never Wrote Those Songs" (nice try, Alice, but the credits say you co-wrote nine of the ten tracks).
Lace And Whiskey Tracks Its Hot Tonight, Lace And Whiskey, Road Rats, Damned If You Do, You And Me, King Of The Silver Screen, Ubangi Stomp, Love At Your Convenience (No More), I Never Wrote Those Songs, My God LACE AND WHISKEY, the 1977 release...

It was a few days after Alice held public auditions for a snake for his upcoming Lace & Whiskey tour.
At the end, Alice performed "Lace and Whiskey" while dressed as Maurice Escargot, complete with machine gun and dancing chickens.
Unfortunately, home VCRs didn't exist then (or at least, weren't affordable), so those of us growing up then did the next best thing: sat in front of the TV with our portable tape recorders held to the TV speaker to record the show for posterity.
There's a loop so you can hang it from a keychain.
This original 1977 promotional poster is for ALICE COOPERLACE AND WHISKEY.
The fl and white poster measures 22 by 34 1/2 inches and shows a great portrait of Cooper doing a take on Humphrey Bogart...with gun, hat, cigarette and vintage tie to match.
