I was personally very impressed with Lady Snowblood and laud it quite highly in my review if it, particularly in relation to the many other female/heroine films being produced during this same period.
On the other hand, the fact that this film presents Kashima as a formidable and unapproachable assassin means that her swords skills approach those of the demonic swordsman in Gojoe (but not quite).
One last trivia tidbit: This film's theme song, Shura no Hana ("Flower of Carnage"), is sung by none other than Kaji Meiko who, in her day, had quite a singing career, of sorts.

"Song for My Lady" falls in the middle category, which is not at all a bad place to be.
It is most noticeable on "Song For My Lady" on the remake "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes." Compare this version to the one on "Coltrane's Sound" and you'll see what I mean.

In 1934, Zoot suits were the latest fashion, "Sophisticated Lady" was the latest hit, and the Chick Webb Orchestra was the house band at one of the world's hottest night spots, Harlem's Savoy Ballroom.
The performance featured several standards, most notably "The Lady is A Tramp", "Misty" and "The Man I Love." Upbeat and ballad alike, Ms.
Fitzgerald used "Ornithology" — Charlie Parker's classic solo based on the "How High the Moon" chord changes — as a springboard for her own improvisation, resulting in what is quite possibly the greatest scat solo ever recorded by a jazz vocalist.

Although there are no sources given for any of the material included on Divine Lady of Song (2004), one thing is for certain, vocalist Sarah Vaughan is in fine form on these live recordings, presumably taken from various radio broadcasts during the late '40s and '50s.
Her unmistakably supple style rivalled the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and she was compared to Billie Holiday for her gritty no-nonsense and often exposed soulful qualities.
The remainder of the anthology returns the artist to the confines of a trio, where her interaction is decidedly intimate, allowing for more of her distinctive scat singing and improvisation.
