Sir Nicholas puposely left the lad nothing so as to force the Queen's hand and to leave her without an excuse for providing for him and recognizing her own son.

Lady Thatcher was certainly one of the most imposing prime ministers that we have ever had.
Queen Elizabeth I continued the iron lady legend - a commanding figure, surprisingly tall for a woman, with a halo of red hair, she had a voice that was authoritative, even piercing.
An iron lady moment came for her when she was 50 and David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first Prime Minister, sent her, disguised as an Arab, to hostile Jordan to beg King Abdullah not to invade the newly emergent state.

Filmtracks: Ancient and Modern (Anne Dudley)
Dudley's interpretations vary greatly, and I suspect that much of your opinion of the album as a whole will depend on whether or not you accept and enjoy the modern interpretations of these pieces.
On the whole, Dudley's interpretations are interesting (at the least), commendable (on the average), and masterful (for three to four of the tracks).
In general, however, Dudley utilizes techniques that fans of "The Art of Noise" and her orchestral film scores will recognize, while riding the classical, choral wave to a new level in her career.

This first novel supposes that Anne Boleyn, second wife to King Henry VIII of England, kept a secret diary that was delivered to her daughter, Elizabeth, upon her succession to the throne.
While Anne's diary entries are interesting and moving, it is the scenes of Elizabeth's childhood with Robert and their subsequent blossoming of love that is the best written part of this book.
Anne's entries range on a scale from being quite boring (the coronation process, the six years she strung Henry along while he tried to get rid of Catherine) to being fascinating and emotional.

Lady Jane (1986)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
It doesn't quite succeed at either, but for viewers of LADY JANE, the pleasure is in the details, and there are plenty of those.
To first dispense with the glaring historical inaccuracy that lies at the film's center, Lady Jane Grey, the Nine-Day Queen of England in 1553, did not in truth have a passionate love match in her husband, Guilford Dudley.
Other details are in the costuming, the suitably squalid tavern and brothel scenes, the bit where the aristocratic Kestelman chows down on her dinner, gnawing on a greasy chop and wiping her mouth with her sleeve, and the achingly beautiful winter deer hunt that runs under the opening credits.

The Lady in the Frame: Two Portraits by Henry James and Jane Campion
Before looking at two portraits of the same lady by different hands, executed in different media and at different times, I would like to consider an historical coincidence which provided a point of intersection for those media and take this as my point of departure.
Thus it was that Mr Casaubon came to meet his mortal destiny, a plot device that liberated Dorothea from the Gothic narrative in which she was enmeshed and freed her for the machinations of the romantic narrative that would culminate in her marriage to Ladislaw.
As a central symbolic motif the 'bolt' functions in The Portrait of A Lady in the same way as the 'key' does in Middlemarch, and thus seems to be another of James's specific references to the relationship obtaining between his and the earlier text.
