Du Barry Was A Lady is the MGM version of Cole Porter’s 1939 Broadway hit about a nightclub washroom attendant who, after having been slipped a mickey, dreams he returns to the French court of Louis XIV.
After the stage Du Barry the song was also used in a 1941 London revue, Black Vanities, where it was sung by Frances Day.

Sothern was married to actor Robert Sterling (1943-49); daughter Tisha Sterling is an actress who played her mom as a young woman in Whales Portrayed Maisie Ravier on Mutual Radio's "The Adventures of Maisie" (1949-1951).
Ann Sothern, born Harriet Lake on January 22,1909 in Valley City, North Dakota, and her film career started as an extra-bit part in the film BROADWAY NIGHTS in 1927.

from Bronx, NY In JESSE JAMES AT BAY (1941), Roy Rogers does a good job enacting a dual role as Jesse James and Clint Burns, a Jesse look-alike employed to commit crimes to besmirch Jesse's reputation among the farmers of Missouri.
Storm and Payne are actually quite funny as the lady reporters, but the comic relief seems a little misplaced at that point in the film, helping to undermine the already weakened suspense.
The plotting of this Republic Pictures B-western starts out strong as farmers are given options on parcels of land along the railroad right-of-way in order to encourage development, only to lose the land after they've farmed it when the court throws out their options.

She went on to play the "good" heroine (Greta Garbo was the "bad" one) in MGM's Flesh and the Devil (1927), and was menaced by villain Oliver Hardy in the 1927 western No Man's Law, a film distinguished by Kent's nude swimming scene (she actually wore a moleskin body suit).
Standing a half-inch over five feet, perky brunette leading lady Barbara Kent was elected Miss Hollywood in 1925.
