 Yodo-Dono - Definition, explanation
Yodo-Dono (淀殿, Lady Yodo), also known as Yodo-Gimi (淀君), was the most favoured concubine of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the niece of the great Japanese daimyo Oda Nobunaga.
Lady O-ichi went on to marry Shibata Katsuie, the main military commander serving under Nobunaga, after her brother's death, and she took with her Lady Yodo to Kitanosho Castle where they lived.
However, many also believe that accusations against her were in fact partially propaganda spread and encouraged by the rising Tokugawa shogunate, as Lady Yodo was the virtual ruler of the Osaka Castle and the Toyotomi clan, being the guardian of the young Toyotomi Hideyori.
