The period since their last album has seen them mature from being a group finding their feet with both voices and instruments to a group who have learned to craft hook drenched pop music that lurches from one trip to another often in the same song.
Ladytron have stood their ground in a market saturated with wannabes and also-rans, they have become familiar with every aspect of what they do.
Ladytron never explain, but, they recognize that Witching Hour, with its ghosts, eerie imagery and its "daylight is the enemy" proclamations, is their darkest record to date.

It was a battle of the energetic frontwomen last night at the Ladytron/Cansei De Ser Sexy (CSS) show at Denver's Bluebird Theatre.
Brazilian dance-rockers CSS' head-shaking frontwoman, Lovefoxxx, led the charge as her band delivered an opening set that was both playful and full of manic energy.
Ladytron's leader, the habit-clad Helen Marnie, delivered mechanical dance moves as she fronted the anti-sampling electronica headliners.

 Ladytron: Light & Magic
Ladytron's music assimilates the various European musical influences of its members in a fluid and organic musical melting pot.
The freshness of Ladytron's music lies in its melodic approach, favoring sugary female vocals and simple lyrics that create the charm of their electro-kitsch.
Ladytron's sound is filled out, in particular thanks to the discreet use of more familiar instruments such as new wave guitars and basses.

Ladytron is a perfectly named group, as its music consists primarily of girls singing -- there's the lady -- and weird robotic synth-derived sounds -- the tron.
The group formed in Liverpool in 1998 around keyboardists and programmers Daniel Hunt and Reuben Wu and singer Mira Aroyo; Ladytron's second vocalist, Helena Marnie joined soon after and the group released their "He Took Her to a Movie" in 1999.
Then in early 2001 came 604, a classic sleeper album that evolved into one of the seminal records of the past few years, serving as a lynchpin for the burgeoning electro scene with its seamless and playful integration of glam, disco, new wave, robot-pop, and Eurotrash dance music.

Ladytron's inspired, accessible electropop is where latterday, Tarwater-style Krautrock meets the melodic nous of The Human League, the Pet Shop Boys and Abba, with just a little bit of the socio-sexual commentary of Black Box Recorder thrown in for good measure.
In ambition, I would say Ladytron are attempting to refresh the 80s sound in a similar way to Dubstar's first album "Disgraceful" (before they went down the toilet), with strong influences from Kraftwerk to the best aspects of The Human League or even New Order.
Definitely try it; Ladytron could be the act that saves the British alternative scene from the miserable torpor it has sunk into...

Ladytron are a band formed in Liverpool, England.
They take their name from the song "Ladytron" by Bryan Ferry (from Roxy Music's eponymous debut album of 1972).
The songs that stood out the most for me were Seventeen, Playgirl (because it’s on the CD I bought at the end of the show), and a song sung not by the lead singer in a different language.

"Ladytron" is a song by Bryan Ferry, recorded by his band Roxy Music and appearing on their eponymous debut album.
The English band Ladytron took their name from this song.
Another possible interpretation is that the Ladytron is a female robot (hence the name), being seduced by Ferry.

LADYTRON are Helen Marnie, Daniel Hunt, Reuben Wu, and Mira Aroyo.
LADYTRON released their first single in 1999 on INVICTA HI-FI Records, the legendary 'He took her to a movie'.
It was immediately talked about for its sheer coolness, nothing in the long coated eternal winter of the late nineties could touch it for style, audacity, and pure pop ambition.

Purveyors of electro pop Ladytron are packing up their synthesizers and heading on a huge tour of the U.S, Canada and Mexico.
After attending the invite only preview and being sucked on to the dance floor by Ladytron's crashing mixup of electro and classic 80's tunes I was keen as hell to hear them in action again and repeat my own messy performance.
