The area has other connections with the early Britons in the name Walworth, which means "enclosure of the Britons", according to A. Mills in his Oxford Dictionary of English Place Names (Oxford University Press, Oxford, UK, 1998);
In 1986, Robert Smith published The Well of Our Lady (The Ladywell Village Society, London, England, January 1986).
Sadly, the well is now covered by the road over the bridge by the entrance to Ladywell station.
