The median income for a household in the county was $38,235, and the median income for a family was $45,717.

The western edge of Missouri's development was set by this treaty about 20 miles west of the future site of Lexington [MO].
It was this road that was used in 1808 when William Clark lead a group of 80 men of the St. Charles Dragoon to protect workers during the construction of Fort Osage.
This troop crossed the Missouri at Arrow Rock, just west of where Franklin in now located, and proceeded to improve a road west along the high ridge on the south side of the Missouri to the Fort.
