LAGAYAN, Abra -- Two relatives of a candidate for vice mayor in this town were wounded after armed men threw Molotov cocktails at the house of the candidate in Barangay Poblacion here on Friday night, police reports said.
In Bangued, Abra provincial governor Vicente Valera said categorizing Abra as an election hot spot was "unfair" because cases of election-related violence in the province during the past elections were "isolated."
Abra Bishop Artemio Rillera and Comelec representatives are expected to witness the signing of the peace covenant that will be held at the provincial police headquarters in Camp Juan Villamor here.

Issues having been joined, the Court of First Instance of Abra ordered the production of the ballot boxes and of all the documents used in the election and created a committee of revisors under whose supervision the petitioner-protestant segregated, identified, marked and photographed all the ballots which she wanted to question.

BAGUIO CITY — The authorities seized high-powered guns from three houses in Lagayan, Abra over the weekend, including the house of an Abra town mayor who was allegedly the target of an assassination plot involving an Army colonel and Abra Gov. Vicente Valera, the Cordillera regional police said yesterday.
Cordillera police director Chief Supt. Noe Wong said Abra policemen and operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group seized six loose firearms from the houses, including the home of Mayor Cecil Seares-Luna of Lagayan town, during a dawn raid on Saturday.
Luna was purportedly the target of an assassination plot that was hatched by Valera and Col. Noel Mislang, relieved commander of the 41st Infantry Battalion based in Abra.
