| | FOLK FEST THINKS WET: Maritime traditions are a focus this year |
 | | As Laitila's presence indicates, the festival is more than an excellent array of music rooted in diverse traditions. |
 | | That's where Laitila comes in, as do folks with expertise and experience in decoy carving, boat building, commercial fishing, sail making, making fish spears, splicing wire rope, ice boat racing, knot tying, making bamboo fishing rods and, of course, cooking fish. |
 | | We spoke with Laitila and several musical artists: the Quebe Sisters, three siblings from Texas who play Western swing; Bill Stevens, an Athabascan fiddler from Alaska, and Ana Vinagre, from Massachusetts, who sings the fado music of her native Portugal. |
