Lake Albert (35°37′S 139°18′E) is a notionally fresh water lake near the mouth of the Murray River.
It is filled by water flowing in from Lake Alexandrina at its mouth near Narrung.
It is separated on the south by the Narrung Peninsula from the salt-water Coorong.

Albert David (DE-1050) was laid down on 28 April 1964 at Seattle, Wash., by the Lockheed Shipbuilding and Construction Co.; launched on 19 December 1964; sponsored by Mrs.
Albert David and her travelling companions made fuel stops at Pearl Harbor and Midway Island before arriving in Yokosuka on 14 May. On 25 May, the ocean escort put to sea in a task group built around Midway (CVA-41) to conduct operations off the island of Honshu.

The open lakes are used for moulting by thousands of Australian Shelduck Tadorna tadornoides and for drought refuge by tens of thousands of other ducks, while the sedge/shrub-dominated swamps support an important population of Australasian Bittern Botaurus poiciloptilus and three types of nationally vulnerable orchids.
The lakes are used for recreational purposes, fishing and duck hunting as well as grazing, commercial fishing, and waste water disposal.
