 | | In response to Australia's obligations under the Ramsar Convention, the National Wetlands Advisory Committee (NWAC) was appointed by the Minister for the Environment, Sport and Territories to guide the development and adoption of a Wetlands Policy for the Commonwealth Government, and to advise on the priorities of the National Wetlands Program. |
 | | In some wetlands, such as the African Great Lakes, Lake Baikal in Russia, Lake Titicaca, sinkholes and cave lakes in arid regions, and lakes on islands, endemism levels as high as 90-100% may be reached, but 10% is a practical figure for worldwide application. |
