		Byram Lake is a 132 acre lake located in sections 29 and 30 of Fenton Township, Genesee County, Michigan.
		The lake borders on the south side of the City of Linden.
		The Byram Lake Association (BLA) was formed for the purpose of preserving the water quality of Byram Lake.

		In the Spring of 1997 the Village of Lake Linden, in cooperation with the Houghton County Natural Resources Conservation Service, installed a fish spawning reef on a littoral area of stamp sand bank that was subject to significant erosion from wave action.

		The lake was a repository of milling wastes, and served as the waterway for transportation to support the mining industry.
		UOP is the successor corporation of Calumet Hecla Mining Company which operated its milling and smelting on the shore of Lake Linden and disposed the generated tailings in the area.
		Approximately 500 acres of tailings are exposed surficially in OU I. The Lake Linden parcel is included in OU I, as well as the Hubbell/Tamarack and Mason parcels.

		Steve Pummill, Lake Linden's president pro tempore, said the village began the process of applying for the grant in 2003.
