 Ogouchi reservoir
On the way to the bus stop of Okutamako from the JR Okutama Station, it is quite interesting to see the remains of the railroad and the tunnels which were used to carry the materials for the dam construction.
There is an hour hiking trail where you can explore the water source forest as you have nice views of Okutama Lake.
The "Okutama Water and Greenery" Interaction Center on the north side of the lake is the perfect place to stop.

The ride to Okutama was cold (the sun eventually showed itself around 10:15am) but good going, keeping a speed of around 30kph+.
At the top of the mountain the road completely flattens out and follows a man made lake (you ride past a dam when reaching the top) which was an incredible sight.
Moving past the lake area I noticed the roads slowly degrading and also a lack of villages and traffic.

I think though a better ride is from musashiichikaiichi station, go 17k lovely rolling flat through forest and then it is an 18k climb over the top of the mountain (tokyo's highest point)and then a 9k descent down to Okutamako (lake Okutama).
