Lake Sebu is one of the many bodies of water supplying important irrigation to the provinces of Sultan Kudarat and South Cotabato.
The Lake and the surrounding rainforest are natural habitat to egrets, kingfishers, swallows, herons, philippine cockatoos and kites.
On the southeastern watershed of the lake, a bamboo plantation was established.

Sadly however, with the denudatation of the surrounding forests much of the beauty that Lake Sebu was 15 or so years ago when I first visited the place has vanished.
But what makes people still go and visit Lake Sebu is the flavor of the fresh tilapia, caught from the lake to the grill, the taste is almost heavenly.

During the past several years, a number of resorts have sprouted beside the town's Lake Sebu, offering premium accommodations as well as fresh tilapia abundant in the lake.
Of the seven ecotourism sites in Mindanao, only Lake Sebu town was chosen by the New Zealand as beneficiary, according to Ali Hadjinasser, interim chief of the Protected Areas and Wildlife Division of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Central Mindanao.

South Cotabato Gov. Daisy Avance-Fuentes said the EU project, a partnership with the provincial government, would primarily focus on the protection of the mountains and lakes in the area and eventually the development of their surrounding communities.
She said the project would initially cover Lake S'loton area, but EU is reportedly considering a possible expansion to cover all communities surrounding the area's three lakes and an additional funding of P100-million.

AT LEAST 29 families based at a landslide-prone area in the mountains of Lake Sebu in South Cotabato were relocated to safer grounds due to the continuing rains.
The local government of Lake Sebu and the South Cotabato Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (PDCC) ordered affected residents of Sitio Mini in Barangay Hanoon to vacate their area due to the possible occurrence of flashfloods and landslides.
Lacdo-o said the affected residents were permanently relocated to a nearby one-hectare lot purchased by the Municipal Government of Lake Sebu from a local resident.

We stopped for lunch at an outdoor restaurant on Lake Sebu where the T'Boli live, and sat under a thatched roof at the water's edge.
This postcard was photographed and donated by Vilhar and Anderson for the benefit of the Helobung Troupe Cooperative at Lake Sebu, a project to preserve local culture and arts, as coordinated by Maria Todi Wanan.
Behind her were the patterned nets of new fisheries, a plan engineered by a European to increase the catch of fish on the lake.
