Wisconsin, with an area of 169,653 sq km (65,503 sq mi), is the 23d largest state in the U.S.; 5.4% of the land area is owned by the federal government.
Wisconsin’s Indians became increasingly dependent on the trade and were inevitably drawn into the imperial wars of the late 1700s, fighting in the French and Indian War (1754–63) and on the side of the British during the American Revolution.

The lake itself is approximately 10 miles long and it's roughly another 20 miles from the upper end of Lake Wisconsin to the dam in Wisconsin Dells.

The ice of the continental glacier advanced over the Central Plain of Wisconsin from both the northeast and the northwest, but an intermediate portion of the inner lowland in Wood, Portage, Adams, Juneau, Monroe and Jackson counties was not overridden by the glacier.
The lake is 237 feet in depth, being the deepest inland lake in Wisconsin.
Although the marshes, bogs and other swamps of Wisconsin are chiefly in the area of latest glaciation, the largest swamp in the state happens to be in the Driftless Area.

The Sayner/Star Lake Chamber of Commerce and Sayner-Star Lake Lions Club are pleased to announce a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the official opening of the Plum Lake Bicycle Trail.
Wisconsin Department of Transportation awarded the Town of Plum Lake Plum a $280,000 federal grant to extend the existing bicycle trails between Boulder Junction and the Crystal Lake and Muskellunge Lake campgrounds to the town of Sayner.
The Sayner/Star Lake Chamber of Commerce and Plum Lake Lions Club generated $ 68,000 in donations and fund-raising proceeds for matching funds for the two grants, and continue striving to generate the final $8,000 required to meet their funding requirements.
