Burlington Bay, also known as Hamilton Harbour, is a branch of Lake Ontario bounded on the northwest by the City of Burlington, on the south by the City of Hamilton, and on the east by Hamilton Beach (south of the Skyway Bridge) and Burlington Beach (north of the channel).
The Bay of Quinte is on the northern shore of Lake Ontario.

The Niagara river is the main feeder of the lake; the other largest rivers emptying into the lake are the Genesee, Oswego and Black from the south side, and the Trent, which discharges into the upper end of the bay of Quinte, a picturesque inlet 70 m.
The lake never freezes over, and is less obstructed by ice than the other lakes, but the harbours are closed by ice from about the middle of December to the middle of April.
The commerce of Lake Ontario is limited in comparison with that of the lakes above Niagara Falls, and is restricted to vessels that can pass through the Welland canal locks, which are 270 ft. long, 45 ft. wide and 14 ft. deep.

We've just returned from a weekend at Lake of Bays, which is about a three hour drive north of Toronto, close to Algonquin Park.
For Ziners who visit Ontario from January to March and enjoy winter activities, I highly recommend a visit.
At night, we heard the wolfs howling and were mesmerized by the starry skies.

The study will be carried out by a team affiliated with the Cornell Center For the Environment consisting of biologists, engineers and planners from Cornell University, the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse and Syracuse University.
The faculty researchers and students at Cornell and Syracuse will be supported by one of 16 grants chosen from 300 proposals to the NSF, to foster a better understanding of the interrelationships that arise when living things at all levels interact with their environment.
This is necessary because the Lake Ontario biocomplexity study might produce new knowledge that could aid regulators and policy-makers -- providing a better understanding of the environmental effects of manipulating water levels in the Great Lakes, for example.
