Lake of Annecy (Haute-Savoie, France): Navigation signals
It is a lake of glacial origin located in the Northern Alps and named after the city of Annecy, which was built at the northern end of the lake.
From there, Lake of Annecy appears as a twisted, elongated 8 (or a Moebius ribbon) and the limit between the two parts of the lake is straightforward.
An alpine lake without or with limited human disturbance is in a state of oligotrophy: there are few organical matter and nitrogen compounds released into the lake and algae development is limited, allowing a high concentration in oxygen, favouring the so-called "noble" fishes (arctic char, ferra).

Finally, Lake Le Bourget detrital signal shows a long-term trend to higher Rhône river activity due to wetter climate and / or higher anthropic pressure onto the catchments area (deforestation) and century-scale oscillation following the rhythm of the solar activity minima.
If it is – at least partly - climatic, the long-term trend should be related to the weakening of the potential winter insolation at the tropics, susceptible to have weakened the NAO / AO pattern throughout the Holocene (Rimbu et al., 2003), strengthening thus the westerlies, and downstream the precipitation, over Central Western Europe.
