Lakeview Hospital is the second oldest hospital in the state of Minnesota.  Starting in a two-story house in Stillwater, Lakeview Hospital began in 1880 by a group of twelve women.  Due to its successes, a new hospital building was built at the corner of Greeley and Anderson Streets in 1892.
Advancing technologies became the driving force in the 1980's, reducing the need for invasive surgeries to diagnose medical problems.  As larger healthcare systems and HMO's began forming, Lakeview Hospital maintained its independence.  This brave, visionary decision remains in place today.
Through continued community involvement, visionary Board leadership, strong working relationships with medical staff, and the commitment and support of local foundations, Lakeview's mission to meet the needs and expectations of the region continues to be met, now and into the future.
