Lakeville's turnout was substantially higher than Freetown's, but moderator Greenwood Hartley III, the Rochester town moderator, dismissed any question of a quorum by announcing that the meeting legally was considered a meeting of the school district and not a special Town Meeting.
Some had feared Lakeville would not meet the quorum of 100 for a special Town Meeting; Freetown's quorum is a mere 10 people.
From the audience, Lakeville local school committee member Stephen Canessa made a motion for a budget vote, swiftly ending the meeting, but the ultimate result may still be a matter of debate.
