In the spring of 2001, the Lakewood BlueClaws, a minor league team affiliated with the Philadelphia Phillies, began operations at beautiful, new GPU Energy Park, located on the eastern end of town.
The home of the Lakewood BlueClaws AAA Baseball Team, GPU Energy Park, is located at the corner of New Hampshire and Cedar Bridge Avenues in Lakewood, NJ.
Hampered by leg injuries that have allowed him to play in only the 35 of the first 77 games, he had his worst offensive game of the season Thursday when he struck out four times and was hitless in five at-bats.

BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown commented on the turnout, saying "this is always a great way for the fans to get excited about the start of the season, especially with the team opening on the road.
In the spring training finale, the Lakewood BlueClaws, single-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, fell 5-2 to the single-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, the Charleston Alley Cats.
The BlueClaws will also be carrying five players on the disabled list, two of whom also wore a Lakewood uniform in 2003.

Please note: The kids will be allowed to parade around the Blueclaws field just prior to the start of the game.
Since I am sure it will be a hot day I would suggest that the kids all bring shorts to change into after the parade.
