The Lal Qila restaurant has won some prestigious awards during the last few years.
The biggest accolade was being voted the top regional restaurant 1999/2000 by the readers of the journal newspaper.
Lal Qila gets its name from the red sandstone that has been used to build it.

I believe 'Lal Qila' has been intriguing and the food has been adorable and unforgettable.
I think Lal Qila is a fantastic restaurant, with some of the tastiest Indian/Bengali food available (although perhaps the decor could do with some work!) I think the spice level is about average for curryhouses; certainly you aren't going to have your head blown off.
I had been to Lal Qila today and would like to comment..

The fort came to be known as the 'Lal Qila' during the British colonial rule in India.
The north gate of the Jama Masjid is special as there is a cupboard in this part of the mosque that stores a strand of hair of the Prophet Mohammad, his foot prints on a marble block and several other relic that belonged to the 'messenger of Allah'.
There were several other structures located close to the Qila, which seem to have crumbled to ruins over the centuries.
