Lalitpur is a city and district of Uttar Pradesh state, India.
Lalitpur district, population 977,447 (2001 census), is joined to Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh by a narrow corridor to the northeast, but is otherwise almost completely surrounded by Madhya Pradesh state; to the east lies Tikamgarh district, to the south Sagar district, and to the west Ashoknagar and Shivpuri districts.
Lalitpur is divided into three tehsils, Lalitpur, Mehroni, and Talbehat; four towns, Lalitpur, Mehroni, Talbehat, and Pali; and 754 villages.

 IndiaDaily - India has agreed to give a grant of Rs 18.3 million (US$420,000) for an irrigation and drinking water project in Nepal's Lalitpur district
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Embassy of India, Lalitpur sub-metropolitan city and Environment and Heritage Conservation, Nepal to implement the project that would benefit over 40,000 people in the six villages of the district.
Besides providing drinking water to the Lalitpur district, the project would help provide irrigation facilities in the district to irrigate 600 hectares of land.
