Lalo Schifrin (born on June 21, 1932) is an Argentine Jewish pianist and composer, most famous for composing the "burning-fuse" theme tune from the Mission:Impossible television series.
Lalo Schifrin was born as Boris Claudio Schifrin in Buenos Aires.
At the age of six Schifrin began a six-year course of study on piano with Enrique Barenboim, the father of the pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim.

One of the finest recent achievements in Lalo Schifrin's career was the world premier of his composition, "Cantos Aztecas" for chorus, solo voices and orchestra which he conducted at the Pyramids of Teotihuacan in Mexico with Placido Domingo as the tenor soloist.
Schifrin was commissioned by the Steinway Foundation to write his "Piano Concerto No. 2", which was premierd by the National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Mstislav Rostropovich, in Washington, DC at the Kennedy Centre on June 11, 1992.

Schifrin's treatment of this warm-hearted theme enhanced it and honored it without cheapening it, a gift for which he is celebrated.
