Phi Lambda Epsilon was founded February 12, 1892 at Clinton Academy, Missouri.
The Beta Chapter of Phi Lambda Epsilon was organized in 1894 as the first fraternity at the State Teacher's College in Warrensburg, Missouri.
The academic Fraternity of Phi Lambda Epsilon was founded at the Clinton Academy, Clinton, Missouri on February 12, 1892 by C. Lamkin, R. McKee, F. Nicols and F. Owen.

On March 25, 1984, the “Magnificent Seven” founded the fifth chapter of Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity, Inc. The founding brothers of Epsilon Chapter made up as diverse a group of individuals as the fraternity had ever seen.
Working to enhance the relationships between the Latin student organizations and ultimately the other organizations on campus was the focus in those early days, but it did not deter brothers from organizing voter registration drives, fundraising for victims of natural disasters and other community service projects.
