Wordfilter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Of course, filters designed for cliché or vandalism control may result in humor as well; for example, the "First Post" filter on Fark often trips up unwary users, as "I believe I made that clear in my first post" becomes "I believe I made that clear in my Boobies".
Lameness filters are text-based wordfilters used by Slash-based websites to stop junk comments from being posted in response to stories.
Since wordfilters are automated and look only for particular sequences of characters, users aware of the filters will sometimes try to evade them by changing their posts just enough to avoid the filters.

For the unspecified lameness filter, we use Compress::Zlib to check how well some text is compressed.
If the text compresses extremely well, then we say it is lame (usually it is someone pasting the same text over and over again, or just typing 'asdasdasdasd', or something).
It's not the unspecified lameness filter message for a string of letters that bothers me, it was the 'don't use caps' message for a string of numbers.

Filter Mini sat down for some words with Mitch the day after his headlining show at Los Angeles’ Wiltern theater.

The other thing that shits me is the smug righteousness of the title ("Lameness filter") and the message, which I can't quite remember because it differs depending on what was filtered.
In my experience, that sort of high-handed criticism isn't meant to cure the problem, it's just meant to allow the author and their little clique to be terribly smug about how lame they apparently aren't.

MP3FS runs at the filesystem layer, advertising a virtual foo.mp3 file for each foo.flac file in the directory and transcoding the FLAC audio to MP3 on the fly whenever the file is read.
The current release of MP3FS is a gzipped source tarball that depends on FUSE, libFLAC (for reading FLAC audio files), and LAME (for transcoding them on the fly).
