This is the first time I've read anything about Lamia not being a snake person but rather a different creature altogether.
If I remember correctly, Naga or Lamia was stated to be a snake with a human head while the other was part snake and the upper torso and the rest being human....One of them could not turn completely or partially human...only their head.
I think...supposedly...both were / are capable of transforming from their known forms to full snake form or full human form and they probably have some other powers.
