LANCASTER — The High Desert Mavericks last regular season road contest of the 2001 campaign started as an up-and-down affair, with the Mavs and the Lancaster Jethawks trading offensive spurts early on.
However, JetHawks pitching shut down the Mavericks in the late innings as the Mavs dropped a 5-3 decision in their last visit to the Hangar this season.
Lancaster regained a 3-2 advantage in the bottom of the inning after three consecutive hits off of Mavs' starter David Pember, which prompted a brief visit from the Mavericks' pitching coach.

LANCASTER — It was the start of a new month and in celebration, the Lancaster JetHawks thought a victory was in order.
Well, the JetHawks are halfway to that number for this month as they held on to beat the High Desert Mavericks 7-6 snapping their 10-game losing streak at The Hangar on Sunday night.
In hindsight, that was all JetHawks starter Scott Barber needed as the right-hander struck out 12 Mavericks, a Lancaster season high, in seven innings of work.

It appeared that the Jethawks would be the ones to come out on top of the late night affair after Mike DiRosa's RBI single in the top of the 17th made it 6-5 Lancaster.
Lancaster took the lead early with a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth, but the Storm struck back with two in the bottom half of the inning on RBIs by Joe Hastings and Greg Sain.
The Jethawks would add another to their lead in the seventh, but the Storm got RBI hits from Freddy Guzman and JJ Furmaniak and some defensive assistance to take the lead 5-4 heading into the ninth.

The Lancaster JetHawks (Class A; California League) and the City of Lancaster announced that the Lancaster City Council will consider approval of a proposal to sell the naming rights of Lancaster Municipal Stadium to Clear Channel Radio of Antelope Valley.
Lancaster Mayor Frank Roberts was joined by Larry Thornhill, General Manager of Clear Channel of Antelope Valley and Brad Seymour, General Manager of the JetHawks in a press conference announcing that, pending city council approval, the stadium would be renamed Clear Channel Stadium at Lancaster.
"The JetHawks are pleased that, with the City Council support of this proposal, we will partner with the City of Lancaster and Clear Channel on this naming rights agreement for the facility we have called home for the last decade,” explained JetHawks general manager Brad Seymour.
