There wasn't 500 examples built of the Lancia Stratos, they were supposed to built 500 to conclude with race regulations but there are actually between 430 and 480 pieces built.
Although the Lancia Stratos has a really big boot the car isn't very practical for daily use because it can be very hot in the cockpit and you have absoluteky no rear sight, the brakes are very hard and the electrics are a disgrace.
There were also 2 long wheelbased Stratos' made for the use on the circuit and there were also circuit cars with the ordinary wheelbase but they didn't handle as well.

Lancia (Lan-cha) is an Italian automobile manufacturer founded in 1906 by Vincenzo Lancia and which became part of the Fiat group in 1969.

Thie 2nd Stratos UK Motorsport Weekend was held on June 8/9 2002, and although the weather was attrocious on the Sunday, it was still an excellent weekend.

When FIAT purchased Lancia in a State approved buyout the “Lancisti” fell flat on their faces and apparently cried a river that poor Lancia would never be the same and quickly wrote off the Beta as some sort of re-skinned FIAT devoid of all the qualities that made Lancia a Grand marque.
The Stratos likely would have had to bow to it’s more pedestrian cousin had team orders not stepped in at the final stage and altered the outcome of that event.
Remember, the Stratos was a purpose built vehicle (that I would very much like to have the opportunity to experience J!) and a major part of its success can be relegated to the fact that it was a “man among boys” and changed forever the philosophy that manufacturers approached Rallye Racing with.

Steve Strain has always been a Lancia Stratos fan and while in the UK working with his wife Carole he happened to go to a car show in Cheshire.
The finish of the interior of the Stratos although starting to show its age is also of a very high standard and neither car has the unfinished look which some other homebuilt cars do.
The Stratos on the other hand would cause car buffs to dream whether it was on the side of the road or passing them in traffic.
