 Edwin H. Land Summary
Land, deciding to leave college to pursue his work at a laboratory in New York City, approached the problem by using many small crystals tightly packed together to produce the effect of one large crystal.
Land told them that from now on their sunglasses should be made with polarized glass, and the company bought the idea.
She asked to see the picture, and while Land was explaining that she would have to wait, he was already developing a plan for a camera that would process the film immediately.

Land continued to improve his invention: "Polacolor" film made instant color photos possible in 1963; in 1972, the "SX-70" replaced the wet, peel-apart development process with dry films that developed in light.
Land spent his entire adult life experimenting and innovating in the field of optics, from producing recording systems used by the U.S. in World War II to proposing the "retinex" theory of human color perception.

Under its charter the purpose of the JNF was to purchase land for the settlement of Jews, and this has been interpreted to mean that JNF land should not be leased, at least on a long-term basis, to non-Jews.

 [No title]
Land, who founded Polaroid in 1937 and the Rowland Institute For Science Inc. in 1980, introduced the first instant camera in 1947, starting the era of 60-second photography.
In an oft-told anecdote, the idea struck Land on a family vacation when he took a photograph of his 3-year-old daughter and she asked why she had to wait to see the picture.
Polaroid, a trademark for the polarizing sheets that Land invented, was coined by Smith College art scholar Clarence Kennedy, with whom Land worked in the 1930s in producing 3-D photographs of Renaissance sculpture.

Released in 1972, the Polaroid SX-70 Land Camera was a landmark in instant camera design and functionality.

For example, the main photographic limitation with the camera is how it performs in low light situations sans flash (by the way, flash bulbs are available if you want them).

Rolling Stone : Aztec Camera: High Land, Hard Rain : Music Reviews
High Land, Hard Rain, the debut album by Aztec Camera, is the kind of pop record you were afraid they didn't make anymore.
Like Love's classic 1967 LP Forever Changes, a lush orchestral-folk opus released in the midst of psychedelia's greatest excesses, High Land, Hard Rain is radical not only in its musical restraint but in its arrogant rejection of fashion.
Frame can be corny in his adolescent sexual earnestness, awkwardly naive in his poetic ambitions ("We'll take a train to the graves again/That we can learn the value of life," he sings in "Back on Board").
