 | | In Montana, a subdivision is any division of land that creates one or more parcels containing less than 160 acres that cannot be described as a one-quarter aliquot part of a US government section so that the parcel may be sold, rented, leased or otherwise conveyed and includes recreational vehicle or manufactured home parks. |
 | | The subdivision review process is intended to address the provision of basic public facilities and services such as streets, sidewalks, street lights, water and sewer lines, storm drainage, parks, police and fire protection, and solid waste disposal. |
 | | The most commonly used exemptions are: when a court divides land, usually to settle an estate; when the divided land is used to secure a mortgage; relocating common boundary lines or aggregating lots; dividing land to give to an immediate family member, and; for creating a parcel that will be used exclusively for agriculture. |
