Landing Zone X-Ray, located several dozen miles south of Pleiku and west of Duc Co in Vietnam, is a historic battleground which was fought over during the Vietnam War, and also during the several wars which took place in the Ming Dynasty between China (Zhongguo) and Vietnam (Yuenan).
The name of the location comes from the US Army's code name for a helicopter landing zone during actions there by the 1st US Air Cavalry Division in 1965 during the Ia Drang battle.
