Green lane - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In Jersey, a Green Lane is a road designated as priority for pedestrians, cyclists and horse-riders to which a 15mph speed limit applies.
Green lane driving, using four wheel drive vehicles (SUVs) is popular with some, though has raised environmental concerns in some quarters.
In particular, a green lane is unsurfaced, and may be so infrequently used that there is no wearing of the surface, allowing vegetation to colonise freely, hence 'green'.

 Road
Roads situated in cities are often, but not always, called streets or alley s; this reflects the historical fact that when they were first named there were more likely to be unmade roads in open country and paved roads in urban areas.
Roads (except those on private property not accessible to the general public) are typically paid for by tax es (often raised through levies on fuel), though some public roads are funded by toll s.
Road building and maintenance is one of the few areas of economic activity (compare military spending) that remain dominated by the public sector (though often through private contractor s).

 Hampshire County Council
Of the 98 in favour of retaining the closure 50 were from Green Lane and the adjoining roads but 48 were from roads where residents could be inconvenienced by the closure.
Other elements, including improvement of the A30 London Road/Rosemary Lane/ Green Lane traffic signal junction, require further negotiation with land owners and eventual land acquisition and will therefore take longer to implement.
Conclusions 6.1 The closure of Green lane has been the subject of a number of reports to this Sub-Committee and legal processes since the proposal was originally raised in October 1988.

 Green Lane Trips
The findings were the lane got steeper and was covered with loose shale with plenty of sharp bits sticking out of the ground and the chances are they would do a lot of damage to the tyres.
Next was a lane by Devils Bridge that I have not been on and defeated certain members of our party a couple of years earlier during the monsoon season.
The lane in question runs along side a river and gets rather narrow in places with the washed away bank having been built up on previous trips with stones for a short stretch.

 Green Lane transport improvements
Auckland City is improving the road network around Green Lane West and Great South Road to provide Aucklanders with transport infrastructure that serves a growing, international city, and to support Transit New Zealand's upgrade of the Green Lane East interchange.
Their upgrade of the Green Lane East interchange (also known as the Greenlane roundabout) aims to improve queuing and traffic flow, as well as improving the area for pedestrians and cyclists.
Tens of thousands of people use the local roads around the interchange each day, and the unique mix of residential, recreational and business-related travel ensures that it is busy around the clock.

The Green Lane: [Backgrounder] -- On-Road Vehicle And Engine Emission Regulations
As the table indicates, on-road vehicles are major contributors of NOx and VOCs, which are reactants in the formation of ground-level ozone, a respiratory irritant and one of the major components of smog.
On-road vehicles are a large source of air pollutants including VOCs, NOx, PM, CO and sulphur oxides (SOx), which are collectively referred to as Criteria Air Contaminants (CACs).
While national emission inventories are being updated for the year 2000 and the mass and percentage contributions of emissions from on-road vehicles are expected to be lower than in 1995 (presented above) due to improvements in vehicle emission performance, this sector is expected to remain a large contributor of smog-forming emissions in Canada.

 green Lane of the Week
Upon leaving the tarmac you are on an enclosed green lane which initially consists of a series of peaks and troughs about 3 feet high.
This can often be slightly misleading since by 'Roman road' we often imply that the Romans made the road whereas in many cases they probably used and/or improved a route that already existed - the 'old' is clearly superflous.
It is mostly tarmac and various sections are designated as different classes of road, one section is bridleway and a couple of short stretches are footpath.

Green Lane Association (G.L.A.S.S.) and the All Wheel Drive Club (A.W.D.C.) for guidance when we use the ancient rights-of-way that are around our area.
As the description states these are 'roads' which you have a right to use in law, though there are some organisations that would like to take away that right.

from the lane - an unofficial sutton united fc website
Sutton United play their home games at The Borough Sports Ground although fans more commonly refer to the ground as Gander Green Lane, the road in which it resides.
In Gander Green Lane itself, this bus operates a ‘hail and ride’ service which allows passengers to stop the bus where they like.
The pitch is quite a long way from the terracing, especially at the Collingwood Road End, because the ground used to include a running track and long-jump pit.

Inquiry looks at green lane's future
When the road was unclassified, it came under the jurisdiction of North Yorkshire County Council.
The other advantage of Gorbeck Road being classified as a BOAT means it is included on the definitive map and will then be on Ordnance Survey maps so people can see that it is there to use," said Mr Oldham.
A DECISION into whether a green lane near Langcliffe should be open to vehicles will be made within a few weeks following a public inquiry.

 Green Lane Therapy (3)
At the end of the sandy lane a steep decline followed and went down and down and gradually changed from a flat lane to a 45 angle.
We were then heading for the coffee stop after a gentle run through the forest and tarmac (this lane has a very steep drop down to the river valley on one side and always terrifies drivers).
Walking back to the vehicles they suddenly realised the vehicles had changed colour so that the yellow one look a dirty green but so did the green one and the white one was now brown.

Off road and green lane biking in Wiltshire
The great concern at the moment is what the government are trying to do with the Countryside Act (the right to roam)(sic) which seeks to deprive us of many of the lanes we have been legitimately using for decades.
Although some riders love the thrill of speeding across the rough I love to wander gently around the countryside exploring the lanes and admiring the views.
We have many miles of beautiful green lanes which I have been exploring.
