Lane County is a county (A region created by territorial division for the purpose of local government) located in the state (The way something is with respect to its main attributes) of Oregon (A state in northwestern United States on the Pacific).
Although 90 percent of Lane County is forestland, Eugene (A city in eastern Oregon on the Willamette River; site of a university) and Springfield (Capital of the state of Illinois) comprise the second largest urban area in Oregon.
Originally it covered all of southern Oregon east to the Rocky Mountains (The chief mountain range of western North America; extends from British Columbia to northern New Mexico; forms the continental divide) and south to the California (A state in the western United States on the Pacific; the 3rd largest state; known for earthquakes) border.
