The county is located in the northern section of Wisconsin where the last glacier deposited terminal moraines, eskers, erratic boulders, silt loam, lakes, rivers and deep forests –; a unique geology like no other in the state.
Politically, Langlade County was originally part of the Northwest Territory with the first surveys coming in 1851.
In February, 1880, the legislature changed the name to Langlade County in honor of Charles de Langlade, the most colorful and renowned pioneer of the wild and unexplored Wisconsin Indian territory of the 1700s.

Lincoln County officials are taking the first steps to reach out to businesses and assist in their growth.
Lincoln County businesses interested in participating in the survey can do so by going online to www.lincolncountyedc.org and clicking on "Lincoln County Business Retention and Expansion Study." Surveys must be completed by mid-November to be included in the survey results.
Each county will conduct its own survey, and the data will be looked at collectively to gain an understanding of issues affecting the region, Sroka said.

As part of his ongoing "Grow Wisconsin" plan to encourage economic development through strategic investments in the transportation network, Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $966,450 project at the Langlade County Airport near Antigo that will complete reconstruction work on the airport's primary runway.
Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Secretary Frank Busalacchi was at the airport Wednesday to present a ceremonial check for $165,658 representing the state's contribution towards the project.
Langlade County is contributing $165,659, with the Federal Aviation Administration providing $635,133.

Also, from my personal experience of indexing Antigo newspaper obituaries, I have found many people whose obituary say they died in Langlade County but when I look for them in the R.O.D. Death Index they are not listed.
It only means for some unknown reason they might not have been indexed and you will need to look at the original death certificate books in the court house, or at other types of death records.
