langshan   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
One thing which set the langshan apart from the rest of the Asiatics was their white foot pad, as opposed to yellow legs in the others.
The form of the langshan is actually an illusion, caused by the high tail angle (which all the Asiatics originally had) and the full feathering.
The langshan is a major ancestor of the modern show Minorcas, Black Orpingtons, Australorps and figure to a lesser extenet in many of the American Breed varieties.

The Chook Shed - Breeds of chooks: Australian Langshans
The Australian (or Chinese) Langshan was developed by a small number of breeders in New South Wales.
Primarily, Croad Langshans, Modern Langshans, Wakfer Chinese Langshans and the true William Cook type Orpingtons were used in the development of the Australian Langshan.
By 1920, classes at some shows were being put on for the Australian Langshan, (which for some obscure reason had been named Chinese Langshans) and the distinct type was beginning to become standardised.

Langshan   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
The beautiful langshan, an ancient breed in China, is beloved around the world.
In the West, the langshan is a profuse and well conformed breed of fowl, which are generally exhibited, but do have some production value left in them and produce large dark brown eggs(actually sort of reddish to dark speckled in some birds).
I believe through selection for improved performance and faster maturation, while keeping type in mind, the langshan can only be improved, making it more useful and more popular.

Montana & McDeviltoast (and friends!): June 21st: Tuesday parties and Langshan outing
At 4:30 we caught the bus, and after a transfer we walked up a Disney-ish thoroughfare to get to Langshan, which is a mountain oddly rising from no other range (a volcanic pimple) surrounded by gardens and topped with a Buddhist temple.
We arrived at the gate only to be told that the temple had closed already, but for 20 kuai we could explore the gardens and hike up to it anyway, which we did.
After hours turned out to be the best way to see Langshan (English: wolf mountain) as there were no other people and all the shops hawking cheesy wares were shut tight.

This invasion did not go unmet, however, as the Hand of God himself, accompanied by Prince Jui-Yen Bandares, marched east with all speed (and the entire Divine army) to repel the incursion.
Meanwhile, negotiations with the Lob Nor and the Langshan had failed to win the Hand any kind of solution, so – in a fit of rage – he ordered his army to beset the tribesmen.
Expecting the Judeans to storm into the wasteland and hunt them down like dogs, the Gurvanites squandered their hard-earned loot on guns (imported at great cost) and seeing the Bulingir given fresh horses.
