Lantau Peak (934 m) is the highest point of the island.
The Lantau Trappist congregation was established in Beijing in the 19th century.
It is located off the north coast of Lantau, near the new town of Tung Chung and is connected to urban areas by the Lantau Link, which is composed of the Kap Shui Mun Bridge, the Ma Wan Viaduct, and the Tsing Ma Bridge.

Lantau Link is the vital connection in the transport network serving the new airport, comprising the Tsing Ma Bridge, the Kap Shui Mun Bridge and the Ma Wan Viaduct.
The two bridges and the viaduct have six lanes for road traffic on the open upper deck and two railway tracks together with two road lanes for emergency use on the sheltered lower deck.

When you arrive in Hong Kong you actually land on Lantau because that's where the Airport is! Of course you won't see much, though if you take the train back to the city (recommended) you'll see some of the countryside of the north side of the island.
If you wanted to actually stay on Lantau then don't have a lot of choices -- see Outlying Island Hotels -- it is more of a day-trip place.
Since 2005 Lantau has been the location of the Hong Kong Disneyland.

Bear in mind that the transport system isn’t as good and there might not be rides at night so you’d have to take a taxi.
