The distance is about 12k and although we are climbing the 2 highest peaks on Lantau we will be doing so from about halfway up in each case.
The top of the peak was not visible due to the amount of haze and fog.

Lantau is perfect for a day trip for hiking and to visit Po Lin Monatery, etc, but hiking there every morning makes no sense.
There are many roads ON the Peak that has no or very light traffic.
- The Lantau trails are safe, as no crooks in his/her right mind will stake out in the middle to nowhere to rob hikers with little money on them.

Lantau island hk,i am now planning to visit again,but the weather is so hot and always rainning,may be on the late Sep or Oct.
Christer,i have grown some different shape of D.oblanceolata (may be all are the same,including the one with 6 pitals pure white flowers,i am now waiting to take photo).i would say they are long arm spatulata.
The pictures were taken in Lantau island close to sunset peak some years ago.

The Lantau Trail is another long distance hiking trails similar to the MacLehose Trail.
It follows a circular route of about 70 km through the finest scenary of the Lantau Country Parks, starting and ending at Mui Wo.
The first five stages stretch over the rugged mountains whilst the other seven stages are never too far away from the coastline.
