		Lanusei (ZIP code 08045) has a population of 5.841 inhabitants (Lanuseini) and a surface of 53,4 square kilometers thus showing a population density of 107,8 inhabitants per square kilometer.
		Population: The municipality of Lanusei had a popolation of 6.356 inhabitants accordingly to the results of the national census made in 1991.
		After the national census made in 2001 the population was 5.841 inhabitants, thus showing during the years 1991 - 2001 a percentual variation of -8,10% inhabitants.

		The main aim of the research plan is the identification and valorization of the local germplasm and its conservation in collection fields.
		The work has been carried out in Sorso, Sennori, Tempio, Bonnanaro, Osini, Jerzu, Lanusei, Cuglieri, S. Lussurgiu municipalities, where it has been possible to identify some biotypes of apricot-tree and cherry-tree in course of extinction.
		The identified apricot-tree biotypes are three and they belong to the cultivar-population generically referred to as "Bisucciu".

		Il Murru, scrivendo a don Bosco il 9 marzo 1882, gli presentava la sua proposta: «Si vorrebbe stabilire una colonia salesiana nell’Ogliastra in vicinanza di Lanusei».
		Nel circondario di Lanusei, il territorio montuoso ed in gran parte accidentato rimaneva per lo più improduttivo per mancanza di braccia; era inoltre paludoso e poteva «essere ridonato all'agricoltura (solo) mediante una completa opera di bonificazione».
		L'espressione «che gran bene potrebbe farsi a tanti individui che giacciono nella più desolante ignoranza!!!» con cui il Murru sollecitava don Bosco a rispondere positivamente alla sua richiesta corrispondeva alle condizioni in cui viveva la popolazione ogliastrina.
