Lao Airlines, known until March 2004 as Lao Aviation was formed in 1976 as the state airline of Laos.
Flying mainly to small airfields in mountainous, tropical Laos, the airline acquired a not too favourably reputation for safety, several flights being lost over the years.
Lao Airlines flies between their base at Vientiane, Wattay International Airport, and a variety of regional cities throughout Laos, using the Y-12 and ATR-72.

Flew Lao Aviation from Luang Prabang to Vientianne.
The A320 aircraft which Lao Aviation are using is one of the ex Ansett Australia craft with the interior changed.
I think that Lao Aviation is making great headways in improving their services and safety and have (I believe) agreements with Thai Airways and Air France to help train staff, maintain the planes etc. In the year since my last flight with them I see great improvements and many positive changes.
