Not long after this Laraaji was playing in Washington Square Park one afternoon and after he had finished playing and was counting his change he found a note saying, ‘Would you like to meet to consider a recording project?’ It was signed Brian Eno.
Although Laraaji stated from the outset that he would not be in a position to promote the album, his busy schedule of Laughter Meditation workshops, concerts, conferences and gatherings takes care of that.

The instrument has a prominent solo in one of Johann Strauss's most famous waltzes, "Tales from the Vienna Woods".

Laraaji is a NYC performer who has worked with Bill Lazwell, Bill Nelson, Brian Eno and others over the years.
This CD was recorded in Italy in 1999, following Laraaji's performance at the Space Festival in Italy in 1998.
Laraaji sings, chants and plays Zyther and percussion and is backed by a group of Italian musicians playing drums, guitar, electronics, keyboards and violin.

Laraaji's main instrument is the zyther, a string instrument with a big wooden sound box =20 similar to the ancient cithara and to Indian santoor.
Although Laraaji conceived an electroacoustic treatment for the zyther, his real speciality is the variety of techniques he applies skimming, = plucking,=20 caressing and striking the free strings of his instrument.

Laraaji released 'Flow Goes the Universe' in 1992 which had contained 5 silent tracks which range from 20 seconds to 2 minutes.
Laraaji's real name is Edward Larry Gordon and he has also recorded and performed as Swami Nadananda as well as being part of Channel Light Vessel (that also includes Roger Eno).

Edward Gordon, known as Laraaji, is unusual in that he plays an electric, open-tuned zither.
Laraaji connected with Eno and created his debut album in the form of Day of Radiance.
While some of Laraaji's other albums are excellent, Day of Radiance stands out in the way it sustains the idea of Radiance throughout an extended ambient work.

"Laraaji Nadananda is a mediator, laugh-master and cosmic musician..."; as far as I'm concerned the review could end there.
Opening with the 25-minute 'Being Here', Laraaji ferments ebbing waves of zither through an aural cloud which recalls his 1979 collaboration with Eno on 'Day Of Radiance'.
Elsewhere, 'A Cave In England' does just that; recording a waterfall from a windswept cave and overlaying it with Mbira, 'Space Choir' utilises the Korg M1 to astonishingly profound effect, whilst album closer 'Mbira Dance' sees the eponymous instrument pock marking a sheath of soulful vocals.

The way in which the various sonic elements build up and loop, while subtly changing over the course of the track is reminiscent of work by the late Nusrat Fateh Ali-Khan.
