Larimer County, Colorado - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Larimer County was created in 1861 as one of seventeen original counties in the Colorado Territory; however, its western boundary was disputed.
Unlike that of much of Colorado, which was founded on the mining of gold and silver, the settlement of Larimer County was based almost entirely on agriculture, an industry that few thought possible in the region during the initial days of the Colorado Gold Rush.
In the county the population is spread out with 23.80% under the age of 18, 14.20% from 18 to 24, 30.70% from 25 to 44, 21.80% from 45 to 64, and 9.60% who are 65 years of age or older.

In a new, sweeping report, state and local officials focus much of their attention on voters and poll workers rather than voting machines the subject of so much debate ever since the 2000 presidential stalemate in Florida.
Such centers eliminate confusion over where to vote, since everyone in a county can vote at any center; reduce lines by allowing for more equipment and staff at fewer locations; and prevent mistakes by better marshaling well-trained election officials along with day workers.
With vote centers, the county can save several hundred thousand dollars by buying fewer handicapped-accessible voting machines, since the new federal law requires one at each polling location, he said.
