Larkana is a growing city in the Northwest of Sindh Province, near Sukkur, Pakistan.
Some 10 Km far away from the city, sugar is cultivated to fill up the need of Sugar Factory (which was a gift from China in 1990, located in Nau Dero Village, Birth Place of Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Zulfikar Ali Bhutto).

LARKANA, Nov 14: The government has failed to address the grim situation of education as 130 schools are lying closed in the district for a long time.
The chief programme manager of the reform support unit, Mr Iqbal Durrani, in a letter to the Larkana EDO (education) on October 14, said the district education profile was based on census, therefore, first-hand information be provided to the unity.
It means there is an army of 958 non-graduate teachers alone in Larkana district imparting education in government-run education institutions.

LARKANA, May 2: A task force formed by the district government on HIV/Aids has confirmed the presence of 118 HIV/Aids positive cases in the district and feared more cases to be detected if blood screening of 3,000 intra-venous drug users in the area is conducted.
The meeting noted with concern that of the 72 blood banks and laboratories of Larkana and Qambar-Shahdadkot district, only two were registered with the Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority.
The district nazim said that lack of follow-up efforts was increasing the risk and urged the meeting to help control the lethal disease.

Larkana District Police and Deputy Inspector of Police (DIG) of Larkana Range then requested the Sindh provincial government to constitute another medical board consisted of senior doctors and conduct a medical examination on the victim.
Abdul Ahad Sangri, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police of Larkana range, was assigned to arrest the five police officers responsible for the case.
Due to this pressure from the police, the second medical board led by Dr. Sikander Ali Shiekh, the Principal of the Chanda Medical College and Hospital in Larkana was constituted to conduct a medical examination on the victim.

 CHANDKA MEDICAL COLLEGE LARKANA
It was Friday, the 20th April, 1973 when people of Larkana witnessed and inauguration ceremony of Chandka Medical College.
"Chandka" was the old name of Larkana and its surrounding area, which was derived from Chandio tribe which is the oldest tribe residing in this area.
The College was established in a building, which already existed as Government Polytechnic Institute and D.C. High School Larkana, which were converted into Chandka Medical College, with Professor Ali Mohammad Ansari as its first Principal and Project Director.

It is alleged that police officers of Larkana District are threatening the victim, demanding him to change the story of the incident before the inquiry committee and claim that he severed his own penis in an attempt to commit suicide.
However, the DIG made an inquiry in haste on January 26 and submitted a report confirming the police's version of the story that this is an attempted suicide case and that the victim is a mentally ill person.
